vintage * art deco * masquerade ball
hollywood vintage * art deco
Our reception will be held in an avant-garde art gallery, and we plan to incorporate the art deco vibe of the venue into our overall wedding theme.
I also personally love the whole Hollywood vintage glam look, so I'll be incorporating concepts from old movies and vintage posters into my ideas. (I'm not limiting myself to a particular decade, because I like elements from different decades. However, art deco originated in the 1920s, so I'm using this as a guideline.)
Examples:
* Signature drink = Marilyn Monroe Champagne Cocktail
* Bridesmaids accessories = Long satin gloves, feather fans and fur stoles

color scheme & masks
Our main colors are eggplant and avocado. However, there will also be peacock feathers in the decor, so I'm adding what I'm calling "peacock-teal" as an accent color. I wanted to go with a non-typical fall color scheme, so I chose the jewel tones. The picture in the middle shows how the color scheme works together.
Since our wedding will be held the weekend before Halloween, we decided to incorporate the Halloween spirit and hold a masquerade ball. I will be making masks -- with the help of my mother & bridal party -- for all of our guests to use during the reception and to take home as favors. See the DIY/masks page for pics of our creations.
